The YAV experience really is one of the best ways our denomination invests in young adults in the church.
My name is Blake Collins and I’m the associate for recruitment and relationships with the Young Adult Volunteer (YAV) program. I hope you’ve received the YAV mailing packet that was recently sent out. Thank you so much for your interest in the faith development of young adults.
The Young Adult Volunteer program is a yearlong service opportunity for young folks, ages 19-30, in 21 separate sitesacross the United States and around the world through the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.). The YAV experience occurs during the academic year, August through July. For more information about each YAV site, please visit the link below:
If you would like to receive more of what was included in the recent mailing, or have not yet received a packet and would like more information, please fill out the form using the link below and we’ll be happy to send more materials. This link may be used at any time during the year. Materials such as the Frequently Asked Questions and YAV palm cards are also available in both Spanish and Korean.
Please feel free to send information to congregations within your region that would benefit from having these materials. If you would like me to send information to any congregation, respond to this email and I will be happy to follow up.
If you are interested in hosting a local gathering of youth pastors, young adults, youth groups, etc., I would love to arrange a visit.
Below are the recruitment dates for the current 2017-18 application season. The YAV application can be accessed here.
• February 1, 2017 (Final date to apply for International Placement)
• April 1, 2017 (Third Application Round- National Placements Only)
• June 1, 2017 (Final application date)
Also, following @yavprogram on all major social media platforms (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram) is a great way to receive up-to-date announcements. Right now current YAVs are taking over our Instagram account for behind-the-scene views at each site. This is a great way for potential candidates to receive an unfiltered view into a YAV year. Finally, a short (3 min) promotional video can be accessed online here. Please share!
Please share these dates and opportunities with young adults you know. I have attached two images in this email. One is for promotion around the fast-approaching final date for international applications (Feb. 1st). The second is to promote our social media campaign for great insight into each YAV site. Would you share these posts in online newsletters, mailings and communication with local congregations?
Thank you again for spreading the word and blessings to you in this season of Advent. Merry Christmas!
