Earlier in the year, Ottawa Presbyterian Church welcomed Commissioned Ruling Elder Lance Weismann as their new Lay Pastor.
Lance is known by many in the presbytery and has a part of Maumee Valley Presbytery for most of his life having grown up in The Raisin Presbyterian Church of Holloway (aka “the Little White Church in the Cornfield”), and is currently a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Tecumseh. For those of you South of the border, both of those are in Michigan!
About two years ago now, Lance finished his Commissioned Ruling Elder training – a journey that was much longer than he expected, but came to fruition in Ottawa. Over a year ago, Lance connected with the fine people of Ottawa Presbyterian Church when Rev. Ben Shaw accepted another call, first as Pulpit Supply, and now as their Commissioned Ruling Elder (Lay Pastor).
Lance says, “I am delighted to be a part of the Ottawa Church! They are a warm, loving group of people, and they are SERIOUS when they tell you that once you walk through their door you are part of the family! As I journey with them, I look forward to learning more about the Ottawa Community in particular and Putnam County in general.” Lance recently shared with Ottawa as they celebrated their 175th Anniversary this past Summer.
We welcome Lance to this new role as he continues his service to Jesus Christ in Maumee Valley.
In an upcoming issue, we will highlight Rev. Leo Pech, Rev. Bobbie Bella, and other new ministers to the presbytery
